Job Description
Founded in 1921, Straub Medical Center includes a 159-bed hospital in Honolulu, a network of neighborhood clinics and a visiting specialist program that reaches throughout the state of Hawai'i. With over 200 physicians who are leaders in their fields, Straub provides its patients with diagnoses and treatments for more than 32 different medical specialties, including bone and joint, heart, cancer, endocrinology/diabetes, family medicine, gastroenterology, geriatric medicine, internal medicine, vascular and urology. Straub is home to the Pacific Region’s only multidisciplinary burn treatment center. The hospital consistently brings new technologies and innovative medical practices to Hawai'i, such as minimally invasive cardiac surgery and total joint replacement.
At Straub's Outpatient Treatment Center, board-certified physicians evaluate and treat all types of cancer and blood disorders and patients can receive blood transfusions, chemotherapy, nutritional support, antibiotics and other IV therapy. Our Certified Oncology Nurses are experienced in providing education and emotional support to patients and their families. The Straub Cancer Center consists of board certified physicians, nurses, registered dietitians, outpatient and inpatient staff and a quality of life professional. In addition to treatment and therapy, the Center offers family education and support group sessions to help patients and their families cope with these challenging situations.
Under the general direction of the Department Manager or designee, provides operational accountability for and coordination of patient care services in the ambulatory clinics. Oversees the work activities of the clinic staff and delegates patient care activities to facilitate optimal patient care. Provides care coordination for patients and performs direct patient care as needed. Develops, implements, and evaluates clinical services in collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary team to promote and render the highest quality of service for patients.

Minimum Qualifications: Must meet education requirements for Hawai‘i State licensing. Current Hawai‘i Registered Nurse license. Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) card. Current ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy certificate or ability to obtain within one (1) year. Three (3) years of ambulatory, infusion, inpatient, and/or comparable experience. One (1) to two (2) years of lead or charge nurse experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) CPR cards. Current national certification in area of specialty. More than two (2) to three (3) years of oncology related nursing experience.
