Job Description
Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i’s only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i’s leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 243 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,500 employees and more than 630 physicians provide specialty care at Kapi'olani. The hospital is home to the Kapi'olani Women’s Center and the Women’s Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center.
The Kapi‘olani Children's Specialty Center offers comprehensive medical care for children and young adults on O‘ahu, Maui, Moloka‘i and the Big Island of Hawai‘i with complex medical problems ranging from developmental and behavioral difficulties to neurological disorders. The Center was developed to meet the needs of young people and to assist families in caring for them. The Center is staffed by a highly specialized team of medical professionals, each experienced in pediatrics and working with families, and in using evidence-based practice in multidisciplinary health care.
If you are compassionate and have outstanding interpersonal skills, you could be our next Genetic Counselor. In this role, you will provide valuable knowledge and guidance to patients with genetic conditions and medical questions, employing your professional knowledge of genetic counseling to assist in the evaluation, treatment and management of patients requiring genetic evaluation. You may also educate and counsel individuals, couples, families or groups regarding genetic conditions, as well as providing educational and consultative services to other health care professionals. Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling or equivalent. Must obtain Certified Genetic Counselor (CGC) certification by the American Board of Genetic Counseling within two (2) testing cycles.
Preferred Qualifications: One (1) year of genetic counseling experience.
