Founded in 1921, Straub Medical Center includes a 159-bed hospital in Honolulu, a network of neighborhood clinics and a visiting specialist program that reaches throughout the state of Hawai'i. With over 200 physicians who are leaders in their fields, Straub provides its patients with diagnoses and treatments for more than 32 different medical specialties, including bone and joint, heart, cancer, endocrinology/diabetes, family medicine, gastroenterology, geriatric medicine, internal medicine, vascular and urology. Straub is home to the Pacific Region’s only multidisciplinary burn treatment center. The Biomedical Engineering department supports and enhances the work of our health care professionals by overseeing the maintenance, evaluation, technical support and training for all medical and scientific instrumentation/biomedical equipment. Our team ensures that the latest health care engineering and technology is put to the service of quality patient care and we work to enhance the use of this technology through ongoing evaluation, operation and staff education.
As the Biomedical Manager, you are essential to ensuring that the Biomedical Engineering department is able to put well-maintained and technically superior equipment at the disposal of our hospitals and clinics. You will provide oversight of all repair and preventive maintenance activities of biomedical equipment, and be responsible for the operation of work control functions for the department. We are looking for someone with excellent organizational and management ability, attention to quality control and service protocol and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i’s people.

Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree in Biomedical Technology Certification in Biomedical Engineering Technologist (BMET)/Clinical Engineering. Experience in the medical electronics field. Five (5) years in a medical electronics supervisory capacity.
Preferred Qualifications: Specific knowledge in Radiology equipment General Electric, Picker and Siemens laboratory equipment to include automated chemistry analyzers, cell counters and blood gas systems. Knowledge of general types of biomedical equipment, i.e.: lasers, monitoring equipment hard wire and telemetry and general diagnostic equipment types.
