Job Description

Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i’s only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i’s leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 243 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,500 employees and more than 630 physicians provide specialty care at Kapi'olani. The hospital is home to the Kapi'olani Women’s Center and the Women’s Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center.

Our Perioperative Services department provides full support throughout the duration of a patient's surgical procedure, spanning ward admission, anesthesia, surgery and recovery. Professional care services include identification of the patient’s individual needs, patient care plan development and implementation and the coordination of nursing service to restore each patient’s health before, during and after a surgical procedure.

As the Pediatric Surgery Program Manager, you will coordinate the management across the continuum of children’s surgical care which includes planning and implementation of clinical protocols and practice management guidelines, monitoring, and care of in hospital patients. In addition, you would serve as a resource for clinical practice, developing, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of program services in collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary team to promote and render the highest quality of care for patients. We are looking for someone with excellent organizational, communications and planning skills and a commitment to creating a healthier Hawai‘i.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Current Hawai‘i Registered Nurse License. Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatrics Advanced Life Support (PALS) CPR cards. Three (3) to five (5) years clinical experience in pediatric surgical care and/or pediatric critical care.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Nursing, Health Care Administration, Business or related field. CNOR Certification. One (1) year program leadership or related experience. Quality or research background.
