Job Description
Founded in 1921, Straub Medical Center includes a 159-bed hospital in Honolulu, a network of neighborhood clinics and a visiting specialist program that reaches throughout the state of Hawai'i. With over 200 physicians who are leaders in their fields, Straub provides its patients with diagnoses and treatments for more than 32 different medical specialties, including bone and joint, heart, cancer, endocrinology/diabetes, family medicine, gastroenterology, geriatric medicine, internal medicine, vascular and urology. Straub is home to the Pacific Region’s only multidisciplinary burn treatment center. The hospital consistently brings new technologies and innovative medical practices to Hawai'i, such as minimally invasive cardiac surgery and total joint replacement.
Straub neurosurgeons specialize in surgical treatment of neurological disorders and in the treatment of trauma to the head, neck or spine. Among other procedures, our neurosurgeons perform laser microsurgery, surgery for cerebral aneurysms, vascular malformations, pituitary and spinal cord disorders, skull-based tumors and surgical relief of various pain syndromes. Straub's neurosurgeons are among the most skilled and highly qualified in the State of Hawai‘i to practice this delicate surgical specialty.
As a Medical Assistant in our Neurosurgery department, you will join the dedicated team of physicians and medical staff that provide our recognized compassionate health services to patients and their families. In this role, you will perform a wide variety of patient care activities. We are looking for someone detail-oriented and attentive, with strong communications and patient care skills and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i’s people.

Minimum Qualifications: High school or equivalent. Completion of a Medical Assistant Program and/or equivalent experience. Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR card. Must be able to complete departmental competency assessment by conclusion of orientation period.
