Job Description
Founded in 1921, Straub Medical Center includes a 159-bed hospital in Honolulu, a network of neighborhood clinics and a visiting specialist program that reaches throughout the state of Hawai'i. With over 200 physicians who are leaders in their fields, Straub provides its patients with diagnoses and treatments for more than 32 different medical specialties, including bone and joint, heart, cancer, endocrinology/diabetes, family medicine, gastroenterology, geriatric medicine, internal medicine, vascular and urology. Straub is home to the Pacific Region’s only multidisciplinary burn treatment center. The hospital consistently brings new technologies and innovative medical practices to Hawai'i, such as minimally invasive cardiac surgery and total joint replacement.
Straub has been a leader for years in providing specialized medicine services to Hawai‘i companies through our Occupational Health department. Straub's board-certified occupational medicine physician and staff provide post-offer physicals, executive health examinations, work capacity evaluations, toxicology evaluations, accident prevention programs, work site evaluations, respiration physicals and permanent partial disability ratings.
As the Medical Assistant, you will join the dedicated team of physicians and medical staff that provide caring, thorough health services to our patients and their families through our Occupational Health department. We are looking for a detail-oriented and attentive individual with strong communications and patient care skills, and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i’s people.

Minimum Qualifications: High school or equivalent. Completion of a Medical Assistant Program and/or equivalent experience. Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Healthcareer Association (NHA), American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), or American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR card.
Preferred Qualifications: Six (6) months medical assistant experience. Knowledge of Classification Procedural Terminology (CPT) and/or International Classification of Disease (ICD-10) Coding. Experience with electronic medical records.
