Job Description

Health Information Services (HIS) processes patient medical records and releases health information to patients, physicians, and other outside facilities for treatment, payment, or review. HIS is the custodian and gatekeeper for privacy of the organization’s medical records and also generates the coding procedures for data collection, research, and reimbursement. With the widespread computerization of health records and other information sources, including hospital administration functions and health human resources information, health informatics and health information technology are being increasingly used in the health care sector.
If you have the dedication and passion to serve one of the State's premier oncology programs, you could be the ideal candidate for our Oncology Program Registrar position. In this role, you will provide important analysis and organization for our oncology patient records by working to coordinate accreditation and serving as the administrator of your assigned facilities. You will also be responsible for the identification, abstraction and maintenance of all oncology records for patients by utilizing the tumor registry database; analyzing registry data and disseminating information in accordance with professional ethics; administering the Tumor Registry Database to ensure data integrity; coordinating research requests for research projects; compiling and reports cancer registry data; ensures compliance with the American College of Surgeons standards by working directly with Cancer Committee Chairperson, Oncology Service Line Executive Director and ACOS Hospital Liasion; and serving as the liaison to the Hawaii Tumor Registry and American College of Surgeons accreditation. We are looking for someone with outstanding organizational and communication skills, a demonstrated understanding of information data and analysis and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawaii's people.

Minimum Qualifications: Associate's Degree. Certified Tumor Registrar. One (1) year of experience in the use of International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-9-CM), International Classification of Diseases, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM), Current Procedural Terminology (CPT-4) coding, and the staging of cancers.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors degree.
