Job Description
Founded in 1921, Straub Medical Center includes a 159-bed hospital in Honolulu, a network of neighborhood clinics and a visiting specialist program that reaches throughout the state of Hawai'i. With over 200 physicians who are leaders in their fields, Straub provides its patients with diagnoses and treatments for more than 32 different medical specialties, including bone and joint, heart, cancer, endocrinology/diabetes, family medicine, gastroenterology, geriatric medicine, internal medicine, vascular and urology. Straub is home to the Pacific Region’s only multidisciplinary burn treatment center. The hospital consistently brings new technologies and innovative medical practices to Hawai'i, such as minimally invasive cardiac surgery and total joint replacement.
The Respiratory Care department provides quality therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care for our patients with acute chronic cardiopulmonary disorders. Our team is composed of physicians, pulmonologists and other health care professionals who work together to diagnose and treat diseases of the chest and lungs with an emphasis on treating asthma, chronic obstructive lung disease and respiratory failure. Our staff performs computer-based pulmonary physiology studies, bronchoscopies, bronchial provocation testing, treatment of sleep apnea and exercise oxygen desaturation studies. The department also has a complete computer-based pulmonary function lab.
As the Patient Service Representative, you will help to ensure that Straub patients and their families receive warm, friendly and considerate assistance at our hospitals and clinics. You will act as a liaison between patients and the professional staff by facilitating clerical and reception responsibilities and assisting in a variety of administrative tasks. These include: interviewing, registering, admitting, updating and creating patients’ medical records; performing accurate and timely processing of all professional and technical fees generated by department providers; and performing cash handling and collection. We are looking for a sensitive and helpful individual with excellent communication and customer service skills, ability to work effectively under minimal supervision, and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i’s people.

Minimum Qualifications: High school or equivalent. One (1) year of clerical support in a healthcare setting or related experience. Basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications: International Classification of Diseases, 10th edition (ICD-10) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Coding Certification. Basic medical terminology. Experience with EPIC.
