Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i’s only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i’s leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 243 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,500 employees and more than 630 physicians provide specialty care at Kapi'olani. The hospital is home to the Kapi'olani Women’s Center and the Women’s Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center.

At Kapiolani Medical Specialist, the Neurology department is an outpatient ambulatory clinic specializing in sensory and motor functions and diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system. The Neurology team functions as a specialty area in conjunction with Primary Care Providers to provide complete neurological care for the convenience of our West O‘ahu families.

As a Patient Service Representative, you will help to ensure that patients and their families receive warm, friendly and considerate assistance. You will act as a liaison between patients and the professional staff in our Endoscopy department and assist with a variety of administrative tasks. These include interviewing, registering, admitting, updating and creating patients’ medical records; performing accurate and timely processing of all professional/technical fees generated by department providers; and performing cash handling and collection. We are looking for someone sensitive and helpful, with excellent communication and customer service skills, ability to work effectively under minimal supervision, and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i’s people.

Minimum Qualifications: High school or equivalent. One (1) year of clerical support in a health care setting or related experience. Basic computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Basic medical terminology. Experience with EPIC. International Classification of Diseases 9th edition (ICD-9) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding certification.
