Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i’s only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i’s leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 243 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,500 employees and more than 630 physicians provide specialty care at Kapi'olani. The hospital is home to the Kapi'olani Women’s Center and the Women’s Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center.

Kapi‘olani Medical for Women & Children has a team of board-certified emergency medicine physicians and the only pediatric emergency department in the state of Hawai‘i, treating approximately 16,000 patients a year. The Emergency Room provides recognized excellence in emergency care to pediatric patients, as well as those needing specific women’s services. The emergency staff is trained to diagnose patients and refer them to other specialists within the hospital when necessary.

If you have exceptional patient care skills and enjoy working as part of a dedicated nursing team, you can help us to ensure a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and their families as a Charge Nurse in Kapi‘olani’s Emergency Room. You would be responsible for coordinating nursing activity during assigned shifts; delegating nursing care assignments based on available staff and resources; and overseeing appropriate patient care within nursing and departmental guidelines. This position is for someone qualified and assertive, with excellent communication skills, a strong sense of quality control, the ability to manage staff and unit work priorities and a commitment to helping our organization deliver the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i’s people.

Minimum Qualifications: Current Hawai‘i Registered Nurse License. Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatrics Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification CPR cards. Two (2) years recent acute care Registered Nurse experience in the Emergency Department, including six (6) months relief charge nurse experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field.
