Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i’s only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i’s leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 253 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,400 employees and more than 700 physicians provide specialty care at Kapi'olani. The hospital is home to the Kapi'olani Women’s Center and the Women’s Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center.

The Kapi‘olani Child Life Services helps our young patients cope constructively with hospitalization and treatment processes since these can be a frightening and confusing experience for children and their families. The Child Life team of professionals aims to provide comprehensive care through special activities like medical play, preoperative tours and pre-procedural teaching to help children deal with their treatment and hospital stay.

As the Pediatric Services Supervisor you would be tasked with overseeing Child Life, Educational and Integrated Services and associated activities, as well as supervising specialized staff, interns, students and volunteers. This position is for someone motivated with exceptional interpersonal communication and patient care skills, enthusiasm for working with others in a collaborative, team-oriented atmosphere and a commitment to creating a healthier Hawai‘i.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Child Life or related field. Certified Child Life Specialist by Child Life Council. Current American Heart Association Heart Saver - AED card. Five (5) years Child Life Specialist experience in an acute care pediatric setting.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Child Development, Child Life or related field. One (1) year supervisory experience as a Child Life Specialist in an acute care pediatric setting.
