Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i’s only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i’s leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 253 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,400 employees and more than 700 physicians provide specialty care at Kapi'olani. The hospital is home to the Kapi'olani Women’s Center and the Women’s Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center.

Join the Telecommunications department and support our mission to provide high quality health care to patients by facilitating an accurate telephone switchboard service and friendly customer service. This department assists external and internal customers by directing phone calls to the appropriate departments and services. The Telecommunications team also assists with the coordination of emergency responses following established protocols to assure hospital security regulations.

As the Telephone Operator, you will help to ensure the maintenance of efficient and helpful communications service to the employees and clients of Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children. You will be responsible for operating the switchboard to provide routine information and directing incoming calls to appropriate areas, as well as responding to emergencies according to established protocols. We are looking for someone warm and friendly, with exceptional communications and customer service skills and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i’s people.

Minimum Qualifications: High school or equivalent. Six (6) months switchboard and/or multi-line phone system experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
